74390 Decade Counter BCD (0 to 9)

74LS390 The SN74LS390 is a 4-bit dual decade counter containing eight master-slave flip-flops and an additional gating to implement two individual four-bit counters. It incorporates a dual dividing by two and division by five, which can be used to implement cycle lengths equal to any integer and/or cumulative multiple from 2 and/or 5 to division by 100. When connected as a bi-quinary counter, the separate circuit division by two can be used to provide symmetry (a square wave) in the final output stage. It comprises two independent four-bit binary counters, each with a clear input and a clock input. N-bit binary counters can be implemented with each packet that provides the ability to divide by 256. It has parallel outputs from each stage of the counter, so that any sub-multiple of the input count rate is available for system timing signals.
