Description
The Zener diode is the essential part of almost constant voltage regulators regardless of large variations of the mains voltage, load resistance and temperature.
If a Zener diode is applied a positive electrical voltage of the anode with respect to negative at the cathode (direct polarization) takes the characteristics of a basic rectifier diode (most cases), but if it is supplied with a positive electrical voltage of the cathode negative at the anode (polarization inverse), the diode will maintain a constant tension. It does not act as a rectifier but as a voltage stabilizer.
