PIR Motion Sensor or Presence HCSR501

The PIR (pyroelectric) HC-SR501 module is an infrared motion sensor, has 3 VCC, OUT and GND connection pins, and two variable calibration resistors (CH1 and RL2).

CH1: With this resistance we can establish the time that the sensor output will be kept active. One of the main limitations of this module is that the minimum time that can be set is more or less 3s. If we change the resistance for another of 100k, we can lower the minimum time to more or less 0.5 s.

RL2: This variable resistance allows us to establish the detection distance that can vary between 3 and 7 m.

The possibility of keeping the module output active for a certain time allows us to use it directly for practically any application without the need to use a development card or a microcontroller.
