Infrared diode Phototransistor receiver 5mm

Infrared LED diode 5mm phototransistor IR receiver function by detecting the infrared light and converting it into an electric current. The current generated by an infrared detector is a signal indicating that this type of light exists. This receiver photo transistor can be used for various applications, such as those used in remote control reception, distance sensor, object sensors, line sensors, among others.

This IR sensor differs from a common transistor because its base has been replaced by a photosensitive crystal that regulates the current flow between collector-emitter according to the light incident on it (infrared light).

The phototransistor, with the appearance of a common LED, must be connected in reverse, that is, the longest pin of the sensor to GND (Earth) and the shortest pin to VCC (Positive Voltage).
