Description
This module allows you to connect a microcontroller or an Arduino to an Ethernet network. All support components necessary to run the ENC28J60 are included.
This small board is basically an Ethernet controller equipped with a SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) port, specially designed to act as a bridge between an Ethernet network and an SPI-equipped microcontroller.
The ENC28J60 complies with IEEE 802.3 specifications, and incorporates a number of packet filtering schemes to limit the number of incoming packets. It also provides an internal DMA module to facilitate data flow and specific hardware for the calculation of controlsums (IP checksums).
Communication with the microcontroller that acts as a host is carried out by the SPI bus at a speed of up to 10Mb/s and two special pins capable of causing interruptions in the ENC28J60. Two other pins can be used to handle LEDs that indicate the connection and network activity. This module is responsible for the connection of sensors, relays, among other devices to the Arduino; It is very interesting but to be able to consult all this from a simple and remote interface it is essential to be able to serve all this data through a website. For this you need to stay connected to a network and of course, you need an Ethernet interface.
The Ethernet modules for Arduino are one of the most interesting components that can be worked with. Thanks to their characteristics, they are cheaper and smaller, allowing them to mount a web server in an economical way. As a counterpart to say that they are not supported by Arduino in a standard way, although there are more and more libraries and better finished.
